PATER NOSTER | Nnolum Florence

Those epileptic moves that sends the mouth;
“Cursing, swearing,” and “savoring”
I mean the man that impregnated my mum

When at dusk, I leave my door open
Because shut doors are “glared” with hate,
I mean “glued” with hate.

Maybe, the transcendence of Baba Tope
I mean the regular echoes of sshhhh’s and tchhhhhhh!
That gives death the rest that can only be mild.

From a close space, I watch him perform
Those epileptic moves that sends the mouth;
“Cursing, swearing,” and “savoring”
I mean the man that impregnated my mum
No, the one they call my “Dad”.

At dawn, our mighty voices clamoring;
“Our father who art in heaven”
Singing the hymns from the “missal”
“Corpus Christe”, the blood that was shed for all.

Again, spilt milk;
“Burst, sprouted”, and “rusted”
Leaving me in repining restlessness.
Maybe, the renaissance of the holy water;
“Sprinkled”, or the upside-down Jesus Christ,
“Wounded, casted”, and “thrusted”.
