Greatest of the Negros | Inioluwa Sanyaolu
Your children now under threats
But there is nothing you could do.
You left them to suffer and fight on their own.

Greatest of the Negros,
Giant of Africa,
That's what the elders say you are.
But to the 21st century generations,
You're just a weakling dwelling on past glory.
Nigeria, my home!
You were home for the past generations
And now?
You're hell to both old and new generations.
Nigeria, my home!
You provided security to your brothers
A long time ago when they were threatened
Your children now under threats
But there is nothing you could do.
You left them to suffer and fight on their own.
Nigeria, my home!
Blood flows on your streets.
litters of the homeless and poverty-stricken ones
The mental health of your people is reducing badly
They look up to you and shed tears
Still, you play a deaf ear.
Your children are not safe anymore
Your people have turned against each other.
No more love, harmony and unity.
Nigeria, you fell from grace to grass.
Mirandas and Antonios are subjected brutally
To the Macbeths you put in power.
The best legacy is hard to get
Because the descendants of Shylock is holding it reins.
Health is now based on your account balance
And security has been hijacked from the personnels.
Nigeria,
The home of paladins is dying.
The paladins are no more safe in their mother's nest.
Nigeria, hear our pleas and come to the aid of your children.
Make us safe in our home -
A healthy, secured, conducive environment.

Excellent piece! It succinctly captures Nigeria as we have it today. Albeit the giant will rise again, we pray.
