Love is a Twist: The Beginning
Maybe I should take you down memory lane. Our love story started like any other romcom movie. We both met at a supermarket not far from my work. She was struggling to reach the top of the shelf to grab a cereal but with her 5'2 height, she couldn't. Being 6.0' tall, I stretched my hand and grabbed two effortlessly.
With my very masculine bass voice, owing to the several years of experience I have in the radio broadcasting industry and a charming smile thanks to my wonderful dentist, I said, 'Here you go beautiful'. 'Mr. Handsome you smell nice', she replied. As butterflies filled my belly, so also was my soul grateful for Sade who sold me the nice perfume.
As a single African man whose family nags him about marriage daily, I wasted no time in offering to pay her bills and giving her a ride home.
'You have done so much for me already Mr. Handsome, I can go home from here' she said with her soft and sweet voice.
'Beauties like you should not be found under the sun', I replied before she accepted the ride.
It was a smooth ride and I tried to be as calm and funny as I could. 'Do you want water? A Drink? Or food? I can cook you know' I said, trying to impress her. 'No Thank you my house is at the next junction' she said smiling.
‘See you tomorrow Beauty', I said hoping that I would get a name or her phone number, but all she did was thank me and she said 'goodbye Handsome'. That was how the name handsome stuck. I however spent 4 years out of our 7-year-old relationship chilling in the friendzone.
The story only gets better. Watch out for the next episode
