Stories Made Me Read

         @ReesesBookClub

A story is definitely the best captivating tool, whether it is said or read. The first sentence of a well-written story can make you endure reading the next three hundred pages just to satisfy your curiosity on how the story unfolds and ends. While on the other hand, some stories can bore you to the extent that even the title can make you ignore it. I have read a considerable number of books, all thanks to stories. Stories made me read.

Primary school literature and comprehension passages from English textbooks were my first contact with written stories. As I began to love them, I got hungry for more. Stories then, were like my secret playhouse, since I wasn't allowed to read books outside the ones recommended in school.

Getting to secondary school, I was given free leave to read stories outside the recommended texts in school. With the literature texts I had from primary school, I started exchanging books with classmates and friends. I can remember reading my first novel in Junior Secondary School two. It was over 600 pages and I read it all. The more I read, the more I became addicted to stories.
As time went by, I began to read other kinds of books.

As long as it's good and beneficial, even if it's a bit lengthy or not containing any form of story at all, I'll still read it. My favorite genre of stories is crime solving, particularly murder detecting. They fascinate and intrigue me. As it is, my playhouse is no longer a secret as it has been revealed to others around me. Stories really improved and developed my reading skills and vocabulary. I've read many books but majority are stories, both fiction and non fiction tales.

I hope you enjoyed this. Dear book lovers, you can also share what made you love reading in the comment section below.😊

  1. Nothing intrests me in books like the ones that deal with histories, including certain passages in the bible. That was why i think, I read the whole Genesis in a day while I was less than 9 years of age. The stories were intriguing. also, being in a art class made it more of a necessity. Thank you Tolu for sharing.
