Attitude

 

That night, it started as a quarrel between Dave and his wife. She wouldn't believe he was faithful after seeing him twice on a call past midnight using a bedroom voice.

Though, she knew he had cheating tendencies but she thought marriage changes people. She was so angry, and ready to let loose all the hate she had in her.

All she needed was a confirmation that her suspicion was true

So she could begin the battle of rants and if it got out of hands, they could end up in court filing the end of marriage papers.

She was ranting for truth, but Dave just wouldn't spill. He had a firm control over his words. 

"You're a coward to hide this from me" she shouted

"What did you just call me, you must be out of your mind to speak to me that way" Dave replied

"I knew you were a cheater all along, you're such a disgrace" She continued

"If you've got nothing better to say, get the hell out of my sight" Dave responded

Suddenly, Daves dad who had been with them for the holiday heard the loud screams from their heated argument and decided to step in.

"Hey married fellas, what's up with the noise, it's past midnight" Grandpa interferred

"Ask your cheating son to tell me the truth" She replied him 

"What do you say you want again?" Grandpa raised his voice again

"Tell him to show me the truth" She screamed

Grandpa hurriedly went into the room to get his Oxford dictionary and started searching for T 

"What do you think you're doing?" she questioned

"You asked for the truth, I'm searching it out for you" Grandpa replied

"No no, I didn't mean a dictionary meaning, but a real life story he is hiding" She said

"Just tell your son to tell me the goddam truth" she screamed again

"Ok, you've changed the word now, it is goddam truth, I hope I find it this time" Grandpa said

Grandpa began searching for goddam truth all over his Oxford dictionary. 

She got tired and left

When the house got quieter, his grandpa called Dave and started explaining

I know you didn't cheat

But nothing should make you react

When tempers are high

I was disgusted by the noise but response is everything in marriage.

When someone blows hot, blow cool. You can never find your cool until you're ready to act like a fool

Sometimes, you just gotta be quiet, other times, you apologise, or just give a smile no matter how hurt you are.

You are in this together

Never give fire for fire in marriage, it'll collapse

Now, go assure your wife that you're faithful.

They all went to bed that night
