Let's Chant A Stilled Song - Guest Contribution

Songs of victory filled the air
With our flags hoisted so high
Today, we'll fearlessly proclaim our freedom.

Decades rolled on
But here we are still under their feet
So I ask again and again
Are we truly independent?

They strangled our identity
& theirs woven around our waists
As they dragged us far away.

The language we speak is not ours
We've thrown ours down a bottomless dungeon
And rolled a stone over it.

The food we eat is not ours
We've buried our precious seed amongst thorns
And leaned wholly on packaged death.

A veritable freedom we seek
A total independence we desire
Enough of this coerced imitation.

  1. Hmmmm! Though only the few sees this fighting for freedom as something so vital... I pray that multitudes chant this song of victory with us.

  2. Freedom right now seems more costly than a private jet right now and yet we so want it. I just hope we are prepared else we repeat the story of our father's independence.

I still chant the freedom song though
