Two Ways to Greatly Improve the Control of Fire Outbreaks.

Fire is certainly an essential natural resource for our survival. But we all know that as much as it is very helpful, it is also very harmful and defective, causing huge casualties.

Although, an emergency fire service has been instituted in Nigeria to mitigate these casualties, sadly, some of these services are not dutifully carried out in Nigeria. They either lack adequate equipments or are not easily accessible. I'm certain that most of us do not have a fire service outlet in our communities, let alone have their emergency hotline.

But there's always a solution to every problem. There are various ways to solve these problems but as for now, we'll be looking at just two effective ways.

Firstly, the government and private bodies can be urged to construct at least a fire service outlet in a community, with equipped facilities and trained experts, just as we have substantial amount of police stations and hospitals in our communities. The emergency hotline should also contain shorter digits for one to easily recall in state of crisis.

Secondly, we should also be aware of effective safety tips to prevent disasters like the spread of wildfire, in the absence of the fire service. Such tips includes; attempting to douse the fire using fire extinguishers or water from a safe distance, evacuating the affected area, putting away flammable objects such as phones from the scene and avoiding carelessness which is a common trigger of fire outbreaks, among other safety guides.

Lets take note of these and I'm hopeful that none of us would fall victim of fire's damages.

  1. Truth be told, I haven't heard of any fire service hotline ever. This is alarming for a country aged 60.
