5 effective ways to kill Anxiety

Hello, how was Monday and Tuesday? Great? Good? Fine? Or fine small? Lol

Even if you pick one of this answers, you can't overrule the fact that either Monday or Tuesday was a bit stressful right?

Right now, we are going to deal with that stress and prevent it from becoming something bigger - anxiety. Let's go...

Through the paths shadowed with fear,

We’ll walk you step by step

To the voice that will be yours

Saying, “come, we made it, come!”

You’ll see…

Above, is just a little intro into what we’re gonna talk about today. I’m going to walk you step by step through 5 effective methods of overcoming anxiety(that thing that use to make you nervous, sweaty, shaky...)

1)SHOUT IT OUT: I watched a Philippine movie a while back and in the movie, I saw two teenagers, a boy and a girl, screaming out their frustrations at the top of their lungs in a secluded car park. It looked kind of strange and ineffective to me then but now, I know the wonders shouting can do for the mind.

Pent-up frustrations, anger and worries are a one-way ticket to anxiety and in the long run, depression. Talk to someone and if you must, scream out your frustrations, punch a pillow and just let it all out. Albeit, in a controlled environment. You don’t want all that negative, toxic energy in your body…shout it out!

2) MOVE! : Thinking about the word “Exercise” alone can make you cringe when your mind is already in overdrive. You may begin to worry about the possibility of increasing the already accumulated strain on your mind and body but in actual sense, exercise is one of the most effective natural antianxiety remedies.

You don’t necessarily have to run or do push-ups, any type of movement is good. Exercise helps you feel better emotionally . Since your mind can’t equally focus on two things at the same time, exercise takes your mind off your problems. It improves your overall outlook. I don’t know how much you exercise now but if it’s below 30 minutes at least twice a week, you need to up your game.

3)SLEEP, GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK : Being a workaholic or a self-acclaimed night owl who prides himself/herself in only needing about 3-4 hours of sleep daily only makes you game for anxiety. Don’t deprive yourself of sleep for any reason. No matter what you tell yourself, you are not a robot. You are only human and you need sleep to function properly. Tell yourself -  8-9 hours of sleep a day, keeps anxiety away.

4)ITS OK TO SAY NO! : Know your limits and when to say NO! The more you overwhelm yourself with other people’s personal problems, the greater your anxiety. You must have heard this saying, “it is more blessed to give than to receive” but if you read between the lines, there’s nowhere there that says you should overexert yourself while lending out your time. You won’t have any energy left to care about your personal affairs if you spend it all caring for others.

However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t help others. Just know when to say NO and don’t be afraid to say it.

5)LIVE IN THE MOMENT : What are thinking about? Are you worrying, stressing or obsessing about any issue? I don’t think there’s a way you can control the future and I am equally sure that there’s no way you can change the past so here’s what you’ll do - stop thinking about tomorrow’s problems, don’t stress about yesterday’s mistakes or the future’s uncertainty. Don’t create anxiety for yourself, Live in the moment. Learn to take each day by the hour.

In a nutshell, anxiety is a dim-witted beast that feeds on your worries, negative emotions and stress when you allow it. Overcoming anxiety is a matter of modifying your behavior, thoughts and lifestyle. Go and live out an awesome Wednesday people!
