ARKHAM
ARKHAM by OLA FEMI
Once you start living, you're one step away from insanity
That every step you take and every action you make
is just a guise to how wild you are
It is in that balance, that you are kept at the mercy of psychic whirlwinds twirling in your mind
Twisting out streaks of gory visions
Planting themselves in thin branches in your heart
Teaching you creative ways to end it all
Everyone deserves a place in Arkham
To the ones who set fire on their soul not by motivation but by immolation
To the ones who mutilate bloody tapestries to carve out what's left of them
To the ones who savoured the moonmilk to escape reality but still crashed into it
To the ones who raised themselves high on a pedestal and fell off the edge
The last horizon is an art we all paint in our minds when we try to look beyond
It's not yet your turn but you cheat the order and skip the queue
We break the order many times remolding it with the droplets of hope
Trickling down into an enormous ocean sweeping us out of that morbid
I like this poem for how it made me feel. Insanity is no joke. It is as real as the fact that life is a struggle, and sometimes it takes less than a string of misfortunes to turn a sane person into a raving madman/woman. Well done.
ReplyDeleteA moment of silence for the _breaking and making_ we experience as humans.
ReplyDeleteThis piece, without bias and with clarity, exposes the struggles we face daily; as long as we are alive to stay on the _sane_ lane.
But, then, it could be so difficult at times because we could make plans for our lives, but our lives sometimes have plans that are different from ours'. The struggles and commotion could drive us (even with our hands on the wheels) to the _insane lane_
