WHEN I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE

I wonder what it will be like

when I don't love you anymore

what will they feel like?

- days

 when I'm full

and not craving your touch

for breakfast, dinner, lunch.

what will it look like?

- my heart

without you taking up all of it's room

will I leave it like that for more than a couple of days?

or be too quick to have you replaced?

play a little game of 'catch' before I hand the keys to a new owner?

and remind them to lock up the place.

what will it sound like?

- your voice

which has always been sweet music to my ears

will it sound like a song gone bad,

one too many times replayed

suddenly void of all it's rhythm and melody

that had made my insides dance

will I squint my face a little

and then change the station?

what will they speak of?

- these poems

that have gotten so used

to hiding you

somewhere

keeping traces of you

 everywhere

making shelter for you

in between the over used clichés

each metaphor knows to carve you a place

in every poetic device one could almost make out your face.

What will you become?

I once referred to you as 'masterpiece',

finest art in this grand museum we call earth

It's not much of a secret that I'm entranced by all of your striking colors

but what happens when I suddenly turn colourblind?

and you begin to resemble every single thing with a frame.

  1. We'll be told to stroke with caution, but what if this stroke would be beautiful forever, do we still need to take much caution?

  2. This is such an interesting piece. The emotions, the words, the structure; everything is so intentional and purposeful.
A food for thought it is.

  3. This is a beautiful interpretation of lost love. It's a great read

  4. Your art is the only thing that keeps me tethered to beauty. Your pen does what my pen has refused to do. I don't know which I love more, your poems or you.😭❤️
