Sweet Songs of Love

It’s not uncommon to fall under the serenade of love in your youth
Sweet songs that blind eyes and cover the ears from the truth
Tender age, where emotions sprouts like a fountain in spring
Feeling like a flock of birds encircling me as they sing.

Some have butterflies swirling in their stomach
Being so far away from the one you desire turns to heartache
Like two pieces of a heart separated and locked in a tower
Waiting to be put together, still dreading the hours.

You know sadly the word love is not an uncommon word said today
But is it expressed as it was back in the day?
Feelings twists and knots develop standing next to your other half of the heart
Holding so close and never wanting to be kept apart.

Though, what is love when you allow not your heart to be open
Could be you’re not sure, or are marks dwelling from one who left it broken?
But feelings, such as a rose, beautiful enough, needed to be shared
On the other hand, such as the thorns, you handle with care.

Through our years, we at times go in headstrong without patience
We feel so focused when struck by this arrow, stealing our senses
Oh! Young love is like a raging fire that can’t be tamed
Ever so full of warmth and passion when you have it, never wanting to extinguish the flames.
