Sick
While I write this poem, I remember Granny’s favorite words
to me; “Be a man but never lose the child in you.”

Sick
The pictures on the wall is my only memory of
yesterday. & the question of who I am today
seems like a distant after thought. But then, I
choose not to chase the shadows. While I write
this poem, I remember Granny’s favorite words
to me; “Be a man but never lose the child in you.”
On this pavement, everything is a metonymy of
my past. A wingless bird strolls by & still delights
in it’s stride. That is to say, emotions might just
be a figment of our imaginations. Maybe a child
will read this & be happy he did. But then, I am
left to wonder how I became a man so soon.
