Book Review : I Will Get Back to You by John ADEFISAYO

Regarding African businesses, most entrepreneurs read books by non-African writers. These books do not reflect the African experience, views, and realities of these entrepreneurs. These books are not written for the African climate. Thus, it is difficult to apply this wisdom and nugget to the third-world realities, as our realities are far from each other.

So, when there is a book on business by an African, it is worth to pick it up and see what it has to say. Authors like Akin Alabi have done so much good to the African terrain, especially Nigeria. Moreover, in this review, we will be looking at a book by a young Nigerian entrepreneur who has amassed experience in his past five years of doing business – John ADEFISAYO. Sharing his insights in his new book, I Will Get Back to You.

The first chapter had a rhetorical question, “Just do it?”, and this questions the idea that just doing something makes up the formula for success. Maybe Nike should have explained their tagline better, smiles. Here, the author expressed how, despite him starting out his brand at 19, he was engrossed in learning not just the craft, but also the factors contributing to building the business of it. The right knowledge is needed to excel, it is not by just doing it, but the intentionality and commitment to growth.

Also, the impact of mentorship in helping avoid common mistakes can not be overemphasized when starting out. In the book, he pointed out, through his experience, how to avoid the plague of clients' popular response of “I Will Get Back to You” from the seller’s perspective.

Loaded with insightful and practical chapters, this is a book every Nigerian entrepreneur should have in their library and practice what is written therein.

The book is available in hard copy in Nigerian cities such as Oshogbo, Ile-Ife, Lagos, Abuja, Ogbomosho, Abeokuta, and Ondo. For contact details: +234 903 202 8344

  1. John Adefisayo made me see that, "it's not just about doing it" but doing it the right way. This book really opened my eyes to see some errors I have been making and now, I've been really intentional in my business growth. This is a book every entrepreneur should have.
