HOW TO AVOID HITTING THE SNOOZE

You must have heard it a lot of times, how waking up early helps you. According to research, it helps to get the best out of your day. A lot of us know these benefits well. Yet, we still wake up late because we end up snoozing our alarm. This makes the whole reason for setting an alarm futile.

Are you tired of snoozing your alarm? If your answer to this is yes, then this post is for you.

WHY IS SNOOZING BAD FOR YOU?
We have to get past this question first before moving on to the ways you can overcome this habit.

Is hitting snooze bad for you? The answer to this question is Yes.

First, it delays the start of your day and makes it hard for you to get as many things as possible done. In some cases, you may end up missing an appointment or something important.

Also, hitting the snooze button is not the remedy to get more sleep. This is because the snooze button is set to last around nine minutes. That timeframe isn’t enough to complete your full cycle of sleep.

In the end, you will end up groggier than you would have been if you did not snooze. Research has shown that this grogginess does not leave completely until several hours later.

Finally, we send confusing signals to our brains when we snooze our alarm. This becomes a habit and our brain becomes conditioned to snoozing. It will see this as the perfect response whenever it hears your alarm go off. The more you allow yourself, the more conditioned the brain becomes.

3 AMAZING TIPS TO STOP HITTING THE SNOOZE BUTTON

1) Place your alarm away from your bed

It is hard to stop hitting the snooze button if your alarm is somewhere reachable. Instead, put your alarm somewhere a bit far that would force you to get out of bed first before you can turn it off. The effects of standing up from your bed are likely to last long enough to keep you moving instead of going back to bed.

2) Go to sleep early

No trick can work here if you are setting unrealistic alarm times. An example of this is staying awake till 3am and setting your alarm to 6am. Sleeping early gives  your brain the much-needed rest it needs before it gets ready to start the day.

3) Change your mindset

You should change your mindset about a thing first if you want to change it. You should see your alarm as a firm commitment you made to yourself and not something you can negotiate.  You defeat the purpose of an alarm when you allow yourself to argue with yourself. It is also a bad way to start your day.

In conclusion, a better morning is achievable when you consider these three tips.
