Introduction to Photography
Photography is an art, and a science of creating durable images using a camera. It requires an in-depth knowledge of the art and act of creating images for a great image to be achieved. Thus, it’s not just about the gadget being used to capture the image, but also the knowledge of the handler. So, if you meet photographers and they give you their rates, don’t just say, “I’ll just use my iPhone. It's just a picture.” It’s a lot more than that.
How is photography related to science?
The camera is an invention of science, and light which is instrumental in the creation of every image, is also related to science. For images to be produced in photography, light has to be involved. It is controlled, manipulated, captured and recorded by a light sensitive material in a camera. This light is then directed by the camera lens to create an image.
Note: all cameras, including phones have a lens attached to them.
For an image to be recorded or created, the control of the sensitivity of light on a surface and the maximization of the light is very essential. To properly understand this, look into the concept of the Exposure Triangle.
