HOW TO CORRECTLY IDENTIFY YOUR SKIN TYPE
A lot of people bring skincare issues like acne, blotches... upon themselves because they don't know their skin type. It is very important to know your skin type. When you can identify your skin type, you will be able to determine the skincare product and routine that works best for you.
The four basic skin types include: oily skin, combination skin, dry skin and normal skin. This is the easiest way to know your skin type:
- When you wake up in the morning, rinse off your face with only water and pat it dry.
- After two hours, take a tissue and dab your face.
- You have an oily skin type if the tissue comes out with oil blotches all over it.
- You have a combination skin type if the oil blotches come from only your t-zone(your forehead, nose and chin).
- Your skin is dry if the tissue comes out totally dry.
- If you dab your face and there is no oil on the tissue, only a little moisture then you are lucky. You have a normal skin.
This article would not be complete if you don't learn about the sensitive skin type. All the basic skin types can be sensitive. A sensitive skin is a skin type that reacts to normal ingredients. If your skin starts niching or develops red patches after you use anything on it then, you have sensitive skin. A skin type that has high sensitivity can be allergic to dust, dirt, and some particular ingredients that are used in cleansers, soaps, creams, gels e.t.c.
