The Deadliest Dream Killer In The Room
“Jay, my idea is great right?", Tina second guessed for the third time in a row.
“Of course it is! Babe, I've seen you conceive this idea, plan and execute it on paper, in a way that would have taken at least three experts, who do not have your kind of brain to bring this kind of initiative to life."
“Also, you're extremely smart, resourceful, beautiful and charming. So for God's sake, what more do you need?"
“Confidence I guess?", Tina wheezed.
Jay sniggered, “ Yeah... you're very right on that note. I guess you can't have it all after all."
“The fear of what the senior partners would think and your inferiority complex has made you push this presentation back 4 times! Unfortunately for you honey, there's no room for you to cook up more excuses this time. I'm going to carry you into that boardroom if I have to."
“Really?", Tina deadpanned
“I'm very serious. All I'm asking for is that you pitch your idea. There's really no harm in trying, plus, I'm 100% sure that this pitch is the perfect industrial game changer this company needs right now. You might not even get a single ‘no' from all the investors and partners gathered in there."
“ooh... you and all this your sweet talk. I don't think I can do it! I'm literally having a panic attack, I feel like my perspiration is as thick as blood...", Tina rambled on.
“Enough of this drama! Just believe in yourself and trust me will you?", Jay said as she led the way, pulling Tina by the hand into the boardroom.
Immediately they enter and Jay takes her seat, leaving Tina standing in front of everyone, the whole room suddenly burst into a heavy round of applause.
Then, the Chairman cleared his voice and spoke, albeit excitedly,“ Tina, I've always known you were exceptional and one of our best, but this, this is fabulous!"
“I would have liked to hear you pitch it yourself but I was so excited at the prospect of something so lucrative, different, creative and spectacular that I did the rounds myself." He said as he burst into fits.
“You can ask all the investors here, I called all of them almost immediately after I got the mail. Also, don't forget to thank your friend Janet, she's one of the priceless ones. Thumbs up Jay!"
All through his proud happy speech, Tina just stared. She was stunned like a deer stuck in front of headlights. Then he got to the best part, the part that erased whatever fear was still hidden in the crevices of her being which made her lips spread into an ear splitting grin.
“From this board, it is a unanimous YES! We have also decided to give you an exclusive 5% of all the proceeds from this deal alongside some other juicy incentives. Congratulations!"
What would have happened if Tina's magnificent idea had not gotten out? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
There's no harm in trying. Even if you get the No's, keep pushing. Your Yes might come from the next trial. Above all, never let fear get in the way of your breakthrough. Never!
Go out and be the best, confident version of yourself today!
