It's Relationship Friday!

Yeah, you read right. It's Relationship Friday! We'll be talking about one particular type of relationship today. A relationship is a connection or association; the condition of being related. So, one way or the other, we're all engaged in at least two types of relationship; family and friendship. Of course, there are other types of relationship. The most popular of them being the romantic kind. Oftentimes, when we see or hear the word “relationship", this kind that usually pops up in our minds. Most of the articles about relationships on the internet are related to the romantic kind of relationship.

However, there's a more important type of relationship; relationship with God. I can almost guess reactions right now. It doesn't sound interesting right? You suddenly don't feel like reading anymore right? Nevertheless, I'll have you know that there's nothing uninteresting about God. Everything about Him is interesting. You just don't know it because you haven't showed interest. Another reason might be because you've been impressed by people's reactions, views and comments on this subject. All human beings are impressionable.

The first thing you should know is that having a relationship with God is beautiful. It's like having a friend whom you vibe with. You feel comfortable around them, like you've known them all your life and vice versa. You can tell them anything. It would only take a while for you to become best friends, that's if you aren't already.

It's the same thing with God. When you establish a connection with him, it becomes almost difficult to leave his presence. He becomes that friend that makes you feel at ease. The only difference is that he does not only serve as a friend, but also as a loving father, comforter, guide and whatnot to you. With time, when you grow to love him as he does to you, you see him as your Peace, Joy, love and partner.

For any relationship to exist however, there must be mutual interest. God is ready to form a connection with anyone if they'd accept him. Other key factors that make relationships work are commitment, Communication and love. In order for your relationship with God to grow, you must trust God and allow room for growth. Communication is also essential. Without it, a relationship can be rendered useless. The only way to know God is to communicate with him and the way to communicate is by praying and reading the word of God. And no, it's not a one way communication because God speaks to his own. Above all, love is the driving factor in every relationship. It sustains the relationship. God loves us and the only thing left is to love him back.

So, when you need a friend; one that would never lose the vibe, a confidant, a father, comforter, Peaceful, never-ending love, and Joy, there's only one place to look. He's ever present, the only friend that would never disappoint you, He's God. Revelations 3:20.
