Rape: what's your take?
In recent times, the attention of the public, through the social media, has been drawn to cases of Rape prevalent in the society. Justice is being demanded for the victims and this has drawn the attention of the government to these cases, while prevalent measures are rising to curb and punish rapists. Sadly, this has nothing to do with gender, race, class and age. As anyone can be a victim. Today, we have a guest who wants to shed more light on this issue.
ArkoreWrites: Can you introduce yourself?
Guest: I'm Aworanti salvation Grace, a liberal, child Advocate, sexual assault Advocate, a volunteer and a happy feminist. I must say too, I'm a Christian.
ArkoreWrites: In your own words, what is Rape?
Guest: Rape is a forceful sex between two or more persons, without one's will or consent.
ArkoreWrites: How do you feel about it?
Guest: Anytime I hear about rape, I feel very sad and it disturbs me emotionally. Rape is inhumane and for no reason, should anyone be raped. We all have right to self-dignity as humans. Theres no justification whatsoever to Rape, it's evil and not fun.
ArkoreWrites: In what way have you helped people in this trauma?
Guest: One of the ways I helped victims or better still survivors of Rape is to listen to their stories, share in their pains and help advocate justice for them. I avoid Rape culture/ Blame Game. I make them understand the reality, that it's not their fault and they should not mind what the society view of them.
In short I avoid these not to promote stigmatization.
Don't blame her/Him. Don't bring karma as a relief. Show love not pity. Give her/him space to heal, (it's her healing not mine).
ArkoreWrites: Words to those out there who had experienced it?
Guest: You're not alone, even when it's seem no one is listening to your trains, you're not alone! There's a strength coming from within, give it a big space to grow. You're beautiful with your scars, just speak out! And seek justice.
You're not a victim for sharing your story, you're a survivor setting the world on fire with your truth, and you never know who needs your light warmth and raging courage. The truth won't go away, it will keep surfacing until it is significantly recognized. Also, Remember in the absence of justice, crimes prevails, seek justice!
ArkoreWrites: Words to those who had molested or are thinking of doing it?
Guest: You better stop it Now, enough is enough! Control your mind, control your urge, else it will destroy you...don't crush and cripple his/her life. Don't cause a life trauma just for 5 minutes fun you seek. Always remember our bond and race we share, Humanity!
ArkoreWrites: Shout out?
Guest: My shout out goes to my humble self (have been through a lot, I celebrate my courage and strengths) and Omolola Pedro, She has been a positive vibes to me. I will never take her for granted. Omolola, thanks for everything.
